Upon graduating from Melbourne University, Tim Maclachlan began his career in the consumer finance industry, with a subsidiary of the U.S. Household International group. He then moved into marketing with the Consumer Products Division of BASF Australia Ltd – a subsidiary of the German chemical group. Serving in a number of marketing and management roles, culminated in his appointment as Senior Executive for the business unit – the youngest ever appointed to this level.
Subsequently, Tim was appointed founding CEO of EMTEC Magnetics Australia Pty Ltd – a subsidiary of another German multinational – marketing a diverse array of recording media products to a broad base of consumer, industrial, business, media and I.T. markets.
Tim established EMTEC as a start-up subsidiary and a new brand in the recording media industry, leveraging emerging digital technologies to achieve rapid growth and market leadership. Initiatives undertaken in marketing, strategic outsourcing, and re-orienting supply lines from Europe to Asia resulted in this becoming the most profitable subsidiary in the global group.
After 20 years' working and travelling with multinationals, he founded his own management consultancy, EQIUM – assisting small and medium sized enterprises to develop their strategy, marketing and human capital. Tim is actively involved in executive coaching and consulting.
