“I was previously a member of TEC before I sold my business. I enjoyed sharing the challenges with other business people. Becoming a chair has filled the need. Also, I feel I have things to offer them. TEC is a place to share ideas, grow as a person and spend time with like-minded people.”
Peter is an operational specialist in both local and international businesses and takes this experience and passion for building successful businesses and effective leaders into his new role as TEC Chair with The Executive Connection.
Peter commenced his career as a chemical engineer and over a decade worked in food, pharmaceutical, building materials and FMCG industries. Then in 1998 Peter developed and established Woodchem Australia, a chemical plant. In the space of 5 years built sales in excess of $35million with staff of 30 and a market share of 25%. Peter then sold the business in August 2007 to Carter Holt Harvey (sales in 2007 were $35mill, EBITDA was $4mill.)
Peter then moved into another C-level role with a start-up business, developing a new technology for the fiberglass composite space. During this time Peter also proceeding to provide mentoring expertise to companies such as: Fine Fettle – Food manufacturer and Marketer; Sapphari Management Systems – Management consulting; Restek – Technical consulting; Schroeder Australia – Medical supplier; Interclean Australasia – Cleaning supplier.
Peter’s extensive business experience has given him insights into the challenges of building businesses from the ground up along with ownership issues that are often hidden from corporate employees. This unique mix allows him to take the best of both worlds; the entrepreneurship from small business and the systems and structure of corporations.
Peter’s TEC experience is both from the Chair and member perspective. He was a TEC member during the critical period of establishing and developing Woodchem and is now building and developing his TEC group as a TEC Chair. Peter sees his group comprising on both entrepreneurs and intrepreneurs. There will be active challenging and fun doing it. This will be achieved through: free thinking; better decision making; accountability for success and improved performance.
