Joe builds teams that deliver. His skills in leadership, team building, business management, finance and stakeholder relations in the mining industry are transferable to all enterprises.

Joe is experienced in all aspects of the mining industry in Australia and South East Asia through leadership roles in operations, project development, mining services, contracting and consultancy. Mining is a unique industry that overcomes physical, environmental, geographical, infrastructure, supply, financial and socio-political challenges through robust business plans and building high performance teams.

Some of the most challenging mining operations in South East Asia were successfully led by Joe including the successful implementation of major change management programs at Muswellbrook Coal in Hunter Valley NSW, Subuku, Senakin and Satui Coalmines in Indonesia, Lihir Gold in PNG, Boddington and Hedges Goldmines in South West WA and Kanowna Belle Goldmine in the WA goldfields.

The $B project developments of the Anvil Hill Project (now the operating Mangoola Opencut) in the Hunter Valley and the Watermark Project in the Gunnedah Basin were led by Joe through completion of the exploration program, land purchase, Bankable Feasibility Study, Environmental Assessment to achieve State and Federal Development Approval.

Joe completed a debt restructure as part of the turnaround of the SubZero Group, an ASX listed Hunter Valley mining services business, then led the business through receivership to a successful sale of the assets to MRS Plc, an LSE listed business. Joe transitioned to CEO of MRS and completed a debt restructure and capital raise on the London AIM bourse to financially stabilise the business.

Joe’s achievements outside of work include gaining development approval and selling a 36-block residential property development, foundation shareholder in an 800 head dairy and waste water re-use facility, finalist in the Housing Industry Association awards for housing construction in the Central Coast and Hunter Valley of NSW and Chairing the Lihir International School in Papua New Guinea.
